I have been working with Cisco Firewalls for thirteen years, starting with PIX firewalls in early 2000. I have seen them evolve through Operating System upgrades and new platforms. In 2007 I started to work with the Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA). The original ASA combined the abilities of the PIX firewall with the VPN 3000 series Concentrator, while out performing both. These firewalls, too, evolved and added features like Dynamic Routing and the ability to install Intrusion Prevention System and Content Security Control Modules.
