In part one, we covered some common connectivity troubles that can affect printers from your HP reseller. Free tools such as the HP Print and Scan Doctor are particularly useful for discovering and troubleshooting these problems with wireless, wired Ethernet and USB connections between your printers and computers.
Fast, error-free printing remains a staple of business productivity, even with the rise of newer technologies such as cloud storage and document collaboration that would seem to reduce long-term demand for paper. A 2014 white paper from Iron Mountain revealed that the ideal of a "paperless office" was still just that - a wish rather than the reality on the ground for most organizations.
Remember the paperless office? Neither do we. It never happened, and there’s a good chance it never will. Paper still dominates business communication, and businesses still maintain a broad print infrastructure. I’m referring to printers, scanners, fax machines and other devices that produce thousands upon thousands of pages per employee per year.
In my last blog I wrote about HP's 3PAR "Get Thin" guarantee, referring to Thin Provisioning, which doubles storage capacity without doubling spinning platters. The Get Virtual guarantee relates directly to VMware, and the number of virtual machines (VM) you can run at one time. Would you like to double your VM capacity without doubling your hardware? HP 3PAR can help you do just that.
Last summer I packed up my motorcycle to do an Iron Butt Association ride. The IBA is an organization of motorcyclists who like to ride long distances in relatively short time frames. Rides are certified by time stamped receipts, verifying you rode where you say you rode.
My goal last summer was to complete a "48 - 10", a ride through all lower 48 states in less than 10 days. I started in Washington and ended in Montana 9 days and 3 hours later.
Not many companies stand behind claims with a guarantee, but that is just what HP does with their new 3PAR line of storage systems. Their “Get Thin” with 3PAR guarantee refers to Thin Provisioning, and effectively offers twice the storage capacity by doubling its spinning platters.
One of the keys to electronic advancement is reducing the size of components – stuffing more utility into even smaller packages. This is true whether you’re talking about TVs, radios, GPS, phones, and of course computers, in all their various forms – tablets, notebooks, PCs and data center servers, storage, and networking.

Information Technology has a HUGE impact on our environment. Printing a single piece of paper produces a larger carbon footprint than you might guess, and being more efficient in the way we print can have very positive consequences.
Fact: The EPA estimates the average office worker prints 10,000 pages a year.
What if it breaks?
My oldest son has 3 jobs. His 3rd job is in a business that he and a friend started several years ago. They make and distribute hunting decoys. One of his responsibilities there is video production. As part of their company promotions, they host hunters on hunts to tryout their decoys, and my son videos the hunts. They’re doing well, and have had articles on their company appear in national magazines and been featured on TV shows, too.
