Virtual Desktop Infrastructure – VDI Definition

The term VDI has been used repeatedly in the marketplace. To us, VDI is really the infrastructure behind the virtual desktop. An entire data center needs to support the efforts behind a virtual desktop initiative. For example, you need plenty of servers to manage the capacity for users, a lot of storage since the goal in a virtual desktop is to centralize and secure storage, networking, security and a host of other technologies. The Hosted Virtual Desktop from dinCloud provides VDI, or what we call the ngDC – the next generation data center. Once the ngDC is there to serve as the foundation for the infrastructure, now we can really talk about the virtual desktop, which has a host of technologies required to make deployment successful.
