HP Care Pack vs. Standard Warranty
What if it breaks?
My oldest son has 3 jobs. His 3rd job is in a business that he and a friend started several years ago. They make and distribute hunting decoys. One of his responsibilities there is video production. As part of their company promotions, they host hunters on hunts to tryout their decoys, and my son videos the hunts. They’re doing well, and have had articles on their company appear in national magazines and been featured on TV shows, too.
The camera he uses for work is a professional model – not something you can get at 5:00 am on Black Friday. It’s big, and complicated, and expensive. I asked my son what would happen if the camera failed during a scheduled shoot. Did he have a back-up? He explained that a back-up would be too expensive. Plus, with technology changing every few years, the spare would go obsolete just sitting around. And, a standard warranty might repair the camera, but how long would it take to send in and get back? He said he had a special agreement with the supplier, that he could get a replacement sent overnight anywhere in the USA. It was the best way he could ensure staying on schedule, avoiding a bad situation his company simply couldn’t afford.
Protect your business, not just the product
Lots of products we buy are important to us, but not critical 24x7. I like the fact that if my toaster dies within the warranty period, I can get a replacement shipped to me in a week or so. But, my livelihood does not depend on toast in the morning.
What about servers, storage, and networking in your Dater Center? The standard product warranty is great at protecting your product from defects, but it does little to protect your business from damage.
HP Care Pack protects your business
With HP Care Pack you can extend the hours of coverage, the length of coverage, and enhances the type of coverage; therefore allowing you to customize your support environment. A printer is a good example; most feel the standard send-it-back-for-repair standard warranty should be fine. But a printer may weigh a lot. Who boxes it up and sends it back? Do you even have the box anymore? Wouldn’t it be better to have a technician come to your site, see the problem as you see it, and fix it right there and then? And, if this is in a critical production location, have the tech there within 4 hours? Or if not so critical, get next-day response instead? Will you keep it for more than the standard 1 year warranty period? Care Pack covers your printer for 3, 4, or even 5 years.
The point is, standard warranty protects a product, but has little connection to your business requirements. HP Care Pack tailors your product support to better align with what makes sense for your solution, for your department, and for your business.
