HP moved to manufacturing operations for reel-to-reel tape products in the mid-70’s to new facilities in Boise. They rented a building and set up shop, bringing in a lot of people from Colorado and California to run it. I joined HP in 1977, just after they completed the first of 7 large buildings that formed the HP Boise campus. I’d go into more details on the evolution of HP in Boise, but that’s another story….

The solution? HP brought in pre-built “mobile home” office space. Several thousand square feet, with power and furnishings all set up in a matter of days. In 1/10th the time and cost, HP provided the resources they needed to satisfy the business need.
