The network administrator plans, installs, operates, optimizes, supports
and maintains the network operating systems, network hardware and network
applications used by the information systems . Currently, employs 4 full
time enterprise network administrators, each with an area of specialty.
This position is charged with the design, operation and maintenance of
all systems during our night shift (2:00 PM to 10:00 PM). The company
has multiple mission critical systems in a multi-domain, Active Directory
environment, supporting Windows 2003, Exchange 2003, Postini, Exclaimer,
XoSoft, SQL Servers, Document Management System, VMware, Right Fax, eFax,
Blackberry, Trend Products, CommVault, IPR, NetIQ, EMC SAN.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Server Support: Design, operate, maintain and optimize
all physical and virtual server systems used by the company
- Monitoring System Management: Monitor server health
status using available solutions (NetIQ, Dell Open manage, MOM) and
proactively respond to symptoms and situations
- Server Upgrades and Patches: Evaluate, test and
deploy various patches and firmware upgrades in a timely manner Account
Management: Lead in the creation, modification and shutdown of user
accounts in a timely manner. Lead regular Active Directory audits
in coordination with other departments
- Anti-Virus Protection: Keeping all the servers
protected from any viruses and threats is a very critical part of
this job
- Documentation: Maintain up to date, thorough documentation
for all responsible systems, processes and issues. Provide second
and third tier support and written documentation for users and application
support as needed
- Support the network administration efforts for
the Windows 2003 server network. Build servers, troubleshoot errors,
administer user and computer accounts, and maintain associated security
and backup systems.
Cross-train within network specialties to provide backup for other
administrators within the Network services group
- Recommend policy, procedure, and process changes
to firm's decision makers. Research and evaluation of new software,
hardware and technological resources. Ensure the firm is up-to-date
with current industry standards and practices
- On a periodic, on-call basis, provide 24/7 break-fix
support for all of the companies technical operations
- Responsibilities associated with the job may change
from time to time in accordance with business needs
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years, full-time network administration
experience in a multi-site environment is required
- Complete working knowledge of Windows 2003, IIS,
Exchange, NetIQ, account and file security, storage technologies,
networking (TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, and domain relationships/trusts,
Active Directory).
- Must demonstrate initiative and a sense of ownership
with various projects and problem-solving situations
- Bachelors degree strongly preferred
- Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003 Server certifications
preferred
- Strong interpersonal and professional skills required
- Strong writing and verbal communication abilities
required
